anyone familiar w/ mushrooms out there? i think these are morels and edible, but i'm not for sure on that. if it's a morel, then it would fall into the Morchella esculenta category.
anyone want to offer an opinion? found in sw missouri in the timber just 3 days ago. of course, having grown up around here, i was constantly reminded as a child not to eat anything that i was not certain of as many plants look fine but are actually poisonous.
care to offer your opinion on type?

Yes, they are. :)I photographed some once and a guy saw the mushrooms and told me they were because he hunts them and eats them. :)
I'm no mycologist, but they look like morels to me too!
Looks like morels to me too. My DH is very familiar with wild mushrooms and he thought so also. However, until an expert tells you they are by physicallyy examing them, don't eat them.
well, according to this website, these would be true morels -- http://www.thegreatmorel.com/falsemorel.html. after cutting one lengthwise, it was hollow and had all the descriptive parts of a true morel.
thanks for all the help!
